We built the app we wished we had
Billr exists because getting paid should be the easiest part of running a trade business, not the hardest.
Helping the people who build things get paid for it
In 2021, our founder, a former electrician, watched his older brother spend three hours every Sunday night writing invoices in Word, printing them, driving to the post office, and then waiting weeks to get paid. His brother was running a thriving electrical business with 15 clients and zero time for paperwork.
He thought: what if invoicing was as simple as sending a text? What if clients could pay from the invoice itself? What if a tradesperson could handle their entire billing from their phone, between jobs, in under a minute?
The tools available were either designed for accountants (too complex) or generic invoice apps (too basic). Neither understood the reality of a trade business: irregular hours, job site billing, material costs, and clients who needed reminders.
So we built Billr from scratch, talking to hundreds of contractors, cleaners, landscapers, and freelancers to understand what they actually needed. The result is an app that works like you think: fast, simple, and always available from your phone.
Today, over 10,000 businesses in 12 countries use Billr to create invoices, track time, manage projects, and get paid faster. We're a small, fully remote team with one obsession: making your business easier to run.
